Developers Break Ground on Frisco’s Wade Park |

If you’ve been living in the DFW Metroplex for the past few years, you’ve probably heard about the growth and expansion just north of Dallas county. Frisco and Plano have been very successful in drawing in major corporations, such as Toyota. This lends to a spike in real estate development, which we love to hear! The Dallas Morning News blog just posted an article on a another exciting addition coming to our very own Frisco.

The 110-acre farm owned for decades by the Wade family will combine with another 65 acres to the south to create a new kind of mixed-use development called Wade Park.

The developer, Stan Thomas of Thomas Land and Development, introduced it as “what we think will be the most exciting project in Texas.”

The first phase, to be completed in spring 2016, will bring 600,000 square feet of high-end specialty retail, including a 45,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market. It also includes two 16-story office towers with more than two million square feet of space. There will also be 1,300 apartments and 50 condos (the second phase will bring more multifamily along with 127 Charleston-style single family homes.) Wade Park will also include a boutique hotel and a luxury hotel as well as entertainment venues for bowling, movies and nightlife.

“We want Frisco to embrace this as their playground,” Matt Boone of Thomas Land & Development said.

The property is on the southeast corner of the Dallas North Tollway and Lebanon Road, just north of the Dallas Cowboys’ future headquarters.

“The growth in this corridor is second to none in the country,” said Rance Wilemon with PLAT.FORM Real Estate who is working with Thomas Land on retail leasing at the site.

Thomas also announced 15 restaurants coming with celebrity chefs. The region will get an early look this fall when the development hosts a Taste of Wade Park with food and live music.

“This is a true mixed-use project that will grow with us,” Frisco Mayor Maher Maso said. “The best is yet to come out here.”
